ReStore is closing but Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity will continue to serve Nashua and the surrounding communities
Since 2013, Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity’s (GNHFH) ReStore has been part of the Nashua community. The Board of Directors of GNHFH has announced that the ReStore at 352 Amherst Street will permanently close July 1. No new donations will be accepted going forward.
“It was with a heavy heart and careful review that it became clear that there was not a viable pathway forward for the ReStore,” says Scott Slattery, who has worked closely with ReStore staff since becoming Executive Director in 2018. “The affiliate is still committed to serving the Nashua Area and is looking forward to the newest project in Nashua on Paxton Terrace, a two-family home for veterans and their families.”
For the past seven years, the ReStore has offered new and gently used appliances, furniture, building materials and more at a fraction of retail cost. Proceeds from the ReStore were used by GNHFH to fund home building projects. When the ReStore was forced to close in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the revenue losses and operating costs forced the Executive Director and Board of Directors to make the painful decision to close the store. All of the six employees were let go in March. Numerous volunteers have contributed countless hours to the store, but with the limit on large gatherings and the age of many of the volunteers it was clear that it would be a long time before the store could fully resume operations.
Starting the weekend of June 6th and 7th, the ReStore will be holding liquidation sales to sell-off remaining inventory. The sales will be conducted on Saturday and Sunday throughout June from 9 am -5 pm on a first come first serve basis. Staff and volunteers will be available to assist customers. The ReStore will be limiting the number of shoppers in the store at any one time to no more than ten. A temperature check will be required prior to entry into the ReStore. Customers will be required to wear gloves and masks at all times. Supplies will be provided by GNHFH.
Inventory prices will be reduced. All sales will be final and items must be taken at the time of purchase. There will be no holding items for customers.
GNHFH would like to thank the community for its support of the ReStore since 2013 and understanding during this challenging time.
